Hello. Welcome to my author journey. I’m Samantha Jo. I’m a wife, mother, salon owner and now, author from small town Iowa. By day, you’ll find me working behind the chair helping people feel beautiful, but whenever I can steal a quiet moment, you’ll find me with a cup of coffee, my laptop and another story waiting to be written.

I’ve always loved old buildings and forgotten places. The kinds of places most people walk past without a second glance. I’m fascinated by the stories history has left behind.

When I’m not writing, I love spending time with my family and discovering old places that often become the heart of my next novel.

At 40 years old I finally decided to stop saying “someday” and start chasing the dream that had been waiting for me for years: becoming an author.

Why I write

Every story I write begins with one question:

What if the history we’ve forgotten never really disappeared?

My novels blend atmospheric mystery, hidden history, Gothic settings, and supernatural elements inspired by real places throughout Iowa. I love taking forgotten landmarks, local legends, and overlooked pieces of history and asking, What if there was more to the story?

Whether it’s an abandoned house, and underground city beneath familiar streets, or secrets buried for generations, my goal is always the same– to leave readers wondering if the places they pass everyday might be hiding stories of their own.

Because sometimes the past isn’t finished with us.
